General Tso's Chicken

Ingredients

  • 2 lb chicken thighs (boneless, cut into chunks)
  • ¾ cup cornstarch
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • cup chicken broth
  • 8 dried red chilies
  • 3 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 4 cup steamed white rice (cooked, for serving)
  • 2 cup broccoli florets (steamed)

How to Make It

    Coat chicken in egg white then cornstarch. Fry in 375°F oil until crispy and golden, about 4 minutes.

    Mix soy sauce, hoisin, sugar, vinegar, broth, and 1 tbsp cornstarch for the sauce.

    Heat 2 tbsp oil in wok. Toast dried chilies until fragrant.

    Add garlic and ginger, cook 30 seconds. Pour in sauce and stir until thickened.

    Toss crispy chicken in sauce.

    Serve over steamed rice with steamed broccoli.
